FAQs
Do I need a referral?
No referral is needed to see an osteopath. You can book an appointment directly. However, if you are claiming under a Medicare Chronic Disease Management (CDM) or Team Care Arrangement (TCA) plan, you will need a referral from your GP.

What should I wear?
Please wear comfortable, loose-fitting or stretchy clothing that allows for easy movement and physical assessment. Your osteopath may ask you to remove certain layers (e.g. jacket, belt) to observe posture and movement better.
For some hands-on treatment, especially soft tissue work using oil or balm, you may be asked to remove specific items of clothing (e.g. shirt or shorts). However, your comfort is always the priority - if you prefer to remain clothed, that is absolutely respected, and treatment will be adjusted accordingly.

What should I expect during my first appointment?
Your initial consultation will include a detailed discussion about your health history, lifestyle, and current concerns, followed by a physical assessment and hands-on osteopathic treatment tailored to your needs.

Is osteopathy covered by private health insurance or Medicare?
Yes, osteopathy is often covered under private health insurance extras. Please check with your provider for details on your level of coverage.
If you’re eligible for the Medicare Chronic Disease Management (CDM) plan (also called TCA), you can receive a partial rebate for up to five osteopathy sessions per calendar year with a valid GP referral.

What do I need to bring?
-
Any relevant scans or reports (X-rays, MRIs, ultrasounds, etc.)
-
Private health insurance card (if you wish to claim on the spot and rebates are available)
-
Comfortable clothing – something you can move easily in (e.g. activewear, loose pants, T-shirt)

If claiming under CDM/TCA:
Please bring your Medicare card, GP referral, and an EFTPOS card (as payment is made in full, and the Medicare rebate is processed back onto your card).
